Congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China! It is a great honor to be a witness as well as a beneficiary of the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

 

Through years of tenacious efforts and determination, the Party has successfully led the Country to achieve the first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects; bringing about a historic resolution to the problem of absolute poverty, and an impressive leap from standing up to growing prosperously. The COVID-19 pandemic has upended the global economy. However, under the determined leadership of the Party, our Country was among the first to emerge from the gloom in terms of economic and social development, and was the only economy in the world that has registered a positive growth in the past year.

 

Since its return to the motherland, Macao has become one of the fastest growing regions in the world.  Its GDP has achieved a leapfrogging growth, and its international status has been greatly enhanced, creating favorable conditions and advantages for the city’s sustainable development. The Macao SAR government is highly committed to the building of a diversified economy by expanding into various new industries including MICE, traditional Chinese medicine, featured finance, and cultural and creative industries, as well as consolidating its established advantages in the tourism and leisure scene. In recent years, Macao has made great efforts in establishing the “one centre, one platform and one base” position as designated by the Central Government.  Moreover, being one of the core cities of the Greater Bay Area, Macao has all the advantages and support to better integrate into the overall development of the Country and develop into a "World Center of Tourism and Leisure".

 

 

This year, as we celebrates the 12th anniversary of MIBA, we will continue to uphold our aspiration, fully embrace the huge opportunities and support blessed by the Central Government, and capitalize on the unique advantages of Macao. Leveraging our tremendous resources and extensive network, we strive to unite the strengths of various related industries to promote multilateral exchanges and cooperation through organizing different types of activities, and at the same time, to engage the younger generation to take part in the development of the Greater Bay Area as well as our Country, to create and bring about a bright and brilliant future for the generations to come.
