Chairman of Council Board
Macao International Brand Enterprise Commercial Association (MIBA) has stepped into its 12th years and I am most honoured to continue to serve as the Council Board Chairman. As a tourist city, Macao's economy has been greatly affected by the epidemic of COVID-19, which has led to difficulties in various industries and a rising unemployment rate. As a member of Macao, I hope to leverage MIBA's platform to unite our members and jointly contribute to the development of economy.
Through 100 years of hard work, the Communist Party of China has built a new country, leading socialism onto the road to prosperity and strength. Since its return in 1999, Macao has been given more possibilities under the leadership of the Central Government. Launch of the "One Centre, One Platform and One Base" has clearly defined the positioning of Macao. And in view of the policy of "supporting Guangdong-Macao cooperation in building Hengqin", Macao can take advantage to deepen cross-border cooperation and institutional innovation, which also means it will have better access to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay market. For Macao’s enterprises, they will have greater prospects and abundant opportunities.
Over the past 12 years, MIBA has been devoted into the development of the Macao business community, and committed to promoting brand establishment, cultural integration and regional cooperation. It has actively participated in various economic and trade events organized by the SAR Government, such as the Macao International Trade and Investment Fair and the Macao Franchise Expo. In accordance with the tourism cultural construction, we hosted the Macao Shopping Festival, the Macao Lantern Festival, and the Greater Bay Area Brand Packaging Design Competition, striving to accelerate talent cultivation and brand incubation. Looking ahead, MIBA will keep serving as a resource exchange platform, facilitating the integration of market, talent and policy to enhance the competitiveness and brand awareness of younger generation. In tandem we encourage regional collaboration to deepen interflow of culture, business and tourism, creating an outstanding business environment with our members and the business communities, seize the opportunities and expand to the Greater Bay Area and the international market.
With the gradual rebound of the COVID-19 and the steady recovery of the economy, Macao is set for a new era of development. We welcome new members, and together with Macao and MIBA, we will chart a new chapter for the travel retail industry.
