Chairman’s Foreword - Supervisory Board
12 years have passed since the establishing of the Macao International Brand Enterprise Commercial Association (MIBA). From 2009, we have experienced the financial tsunami, the implementation of "One Belt, One Road" and "Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and the Greater Bay Area", to the global economic setback caused by COVID-19. In the midst of the global economic downturn, our country has managed to recover and grow rapidly, which makes us very proud of how strong it is!
Macao's public security has significantly improved after return to China. The city now is prosperous and stable, and its people are living and working happily. Coupled with the free economic system, Macao has attracted investors and the economy has been growing rapidly, much better than it did before.
The impact of COVID-19 on the economy and people's daily life remains and cannot be resolved within a short period of time. However, the series of policies and strategies launched by the Central and SAR Government have assured us that there will be great potential for the development of Macao. In its 12 years of history, MIBA has been committed to integrating resources to bring international brands to Macao, and meanwhile incubating young Macao brands and assisting them expand out to the Greater Bay Area and international markets. Involving in the rapid economic development and close cooperation within the Greater Bay Area, it is hoped that MIBA can become one of the important windows for innovation and creativity in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, strengthening the connection between young entrepreneurs, professionals, international and local brands, and further accelerating the interconnection of financial and information flows.
MIBA will continue to play its part in building platform for economic, trade and cultural cooperation, also enhancing brand awareness and enriching the development of Macao's cultural, travel retail industries. By creating a favourable business environment, we will jointly facilitate economic recovery. I believe that through the efforts of all, Macao and MIBA will achieve a brighter tomorrow. And I will continue to work closely with all board members and supervisors to continue the objectives.
