Led by renowned architect and artist Carlos Marreiros, the 5th Macau International Lantern Festival is comprised of over 20 monumental and illuminative lantern sculptures themed as “Tomorrow Will be Better” and “Happy All Together”. It includes classic retro toy lanterns that symbolize "embracing the beauty of yesterday, welcoming a more prosperous future" together with butterfly and hot air balloon lantern sculptures that symbolize “harmonious joy and fortune”.

On the Waterfront Promenade of One Central Macau, there will be 6 luminous lantern sculptures shaped in classic retro toys with the theme of “Tomorrow Will be Better” shining the city with joy and hope as well as childlike happiness, standing on the threshold of a more brilliant future with the community. Classic retro toys are chosen because they represent the bright future that childhood sweetly packed. The series of lanterns, such as Happy Clown Toy, Robot Darling, Childhood Soldier of Fortune, and Love Galo, are also going to recreate the wonderful time of childhood, turning the Waterfront Promenade of One Central Macau into a joyful children playground.

On the Waterfront Promenade of Wynn Macau, a total of 17 butterfly and hot air balloon lantern sculptures entitled “Wynn Butterfly Story” will be displayed. To be accompanied by the beautiful moonlight of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the series will be reminiscent of flying butterflies dancing among the flowers together with hot air balloons leading adults and children to celebrate the National Day under the full moon. Wynn Macau continuously collaborates with renowned architect and artist Carlos Marreiros this year and additionally invited the winning students of the “Wynn Cup – Macau Primary School Student National Education Drawing Competition” to participate in the designs of the lanterns. Each brush stroke expresses the joy of welcoming the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival, bringing the locals and visitors to Macao a special array of surprise.
